Contract Type LOA If other, please specify Recruitment Type Open Position Details General Statement We are looking for a qualified research staff statistician to support the data analysis and statistical needs of MSU’s Social Data Collection and Analysis Services core facility (Social Data) on the MSU-Bozeman campus. This individual will assist Social Data users (faculty, researchers, staff, external clients, post-docs, students) with statistical analysis and presentation of results for their projects. Duties and Responsibilities Provide research services to include data cleaning, data visualization, statistical analysis, data presentation, and dissemination of results, independently or under the guidance of the Facility Manager. Manage distributed analysis on the MSU supercomputer clusters (Hyalite and Tempest). Stay current in relevant research methodologies, and pursue training and professional development opportunities as needed. Ensure timely and efficient completion of analysis projects, consistently meeting established deadlines. Manage work concurrently on multiple projects, switching as frequently as necessary. Communicate with clients in an ongoing manner to ensure projects stay on track in terms of client needs. Provide accurate estimates of time and effort for projects, forecasting availability into the future. Assist the Facility Manager with the operation of the facility, as needed. Supply training on relevant research methods to constituents beyond facility clients. Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills PhD or master’s degree in statistics, computer science, data science, or similar field with some applied experience. Demonstrated experience in statistical project management, including implementation and analysis. Demonstrated experience analyzing survey data. Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Experience working in a research core facility. Prior statistics or data science teaching experience. Extensive experience programming in R statistical software environment. The Successful Candidate Will Have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Have strong problem-solving skills. Work effectively with a broad range of constituents, including students, faculty, and staff across multiple disciplines.
