Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Research Specialist. This Role will be on-site at our Research Center in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii. The Research Specialist main responsibilities will oversee and manage MPD projects (BMR, PxP, Reduced Stature Corn (RSC), North America projects from Mexico and Argentina projects), people management, planning, organizing and scheduling all activities. Involve in the SPT team for planning people resources to support the day-to-day activities of the research seed production in Waimea, Hawaii. Implementing and performing vital tasks associated with Inbred Increase and hybrid production. Supervisory skills are required to lead research technicians in all activities related to all projects of the Seed Production Team. Responsible and ensure that workers will have a safe work environment and guide them to follow protocols to attain high quality & quantity data of seeds generated from field experiments. Developing protocols for activities related to Seed Production will be part of this role. The Research associate will communicate and coordinate with the Seed Production Team, Agronomy, operations, Safety, SPD/GRSD and projects contacts to update projects and report issues.

What You'll Do:

Manage MPD projects (BMR, PxP, Reduced Stature Corn (RSC), North America projects from Mexico and Argentina projects.

Support all Seed Production projects and field activities

Coordinate and collaborate with Agronomy, Operation & project contacts

Supervise full-time employees and contingent workers, ensuring work is performed in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with protocols and regulations

Communicate openly with team, supervisors and Seed Production Lead

Promote positive work attitudes and harmonious relations

Willing and able to work flexible schedules and weekends during peak periods when required

Support all goals of the Hawaii Research Center and support other projects when needed

Close coordination and communication with the end user (SPD/GRSD)

Data template downloading, data collection and uploading data to CDM of all project’s responsibilities

Train employees and temporary workers in all Seed Production CAMS-SOP.

Participate and contribute to Site specific activities oriented to contribute positively to our community.

Assist on implementing the Ergonomics awareness standard program for Corteva Kauai site.

What Skills You Need:

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, or any bachelor’s degree with 5 or more years of Corn Research experience is preferable.

Organization and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Computer competency

Knowledgeable in plant biology and agronomy

Ability to manage people

Ability to work as part of a larger, culturally diverse group, as well as independently when needed

Ability to bend, reach, and lift repetitively. Occasionally required to carry 20-50 lbs

Tolerance, willingness, and ability to work in warm conditions and variable environments

Demonstrate organization and problem-solving skills

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective relationship

3-5 years’ experience in managing corn projects

Experience in working with Research Seed Production

Experience in working Breeders Desktop and other application tools

Experience in data collection using DASH or any Applications

Specialized knowledge and technical skills related to the assigned program area

Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities

Valid License to drive in US

The salary range for this position is $86,040.00 to $90,820.00.

This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base salary for this role. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus. Based on factors such as geographic location and candidate qualifications, actual base pay is determined when an employment offer is made.
