Research Scientist - Thoracic Head and Neck Medical Oncology
Participate in scientific research projects.

-Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, develop and design projects and all experiments related to the project
-Independently perform all aspects of the experiments, which may include drug screening, RPPA profiling, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, tissue culture, PCR, and animal experiments.
-Designs, organizes and performs animal work.
-Performs animal surgery.
-Performs in vitro drug screening
-Performs RPPA profiling.
-Participate in adopting new techniques and learning new skills to enhance research efforts.
-Maintain assertiveness and flexibility in approaching new techniques and responsibilities, utilizing good work habits and time management.
-Maintain alertness and careful attention to avoid injury to self and others due to chemicals and hazardous materials in the laboratory.
-Prepare oral and written reports about the progress of various projects.
-Review the scientific literature regularly to plan the research project.

-Utilize image analysis system and/or microscope to analyze data and examine results.

Job Functions

Education Required - Masters degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

Experience Required - Four years of experience in experimental or scientific work. With PhD, no experience required. With Medical degree, two years of experience in experimental or scientific work.

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
