Research Scientist - Mass Spec

Conducts and provides technical guidance on scientific method development and/or other specialty technologies studies OR performs troubleshooting for own and other’s instruments, methods, procedures, and in writing protocols and reports. Designs and executes method development independently and interprets and reviews analytical data for self and other’s methods and procedures. Routinely acts as the technical project leader for multiple projects, provide updates, reviews and evaluates data, writes reports and protocols.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
• Independently performs analytical method development and method optimization using liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry for qualitative or quantitative analysis.
• Designs and executes experiments independently.
• Writes, reviews and critiques study protocols, project status reports, final study reports and other project-related technical documents.
• Leads analytical (procedural and instrumental) troubleshooting sessions.
• Presents posters at technical conferences.
• Develops innovative technology and evaluates and implements new capabilities.
• Reviews, interprets, and analyzes data for technical, quality and compliance to protocols, methods, SOPs, client criteria and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
• Performs self and peer review of the data for accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements.
• Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Has a wide range of experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
• Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (i.e., Team Lead). Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
• Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 8+ years). Key skills to include subject matter expert in Mass Spectrometry
