Meta Reality Labs brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of virtual and augmented reality (AR/VR), which will become as universal and essential as smartphones and personal computers are today. Just as personal computers have transformed how we work, play, and connect over the past 45 years, AR and VR will fundamentally change these experiences. We are developing all the technologies needed to enable breakthrough AR glasses and VR headsets, including optics and displays, computer vision, audio, graphics, brain-computer interfaces, haptic interaction, eye/hand/face/body tracking, perception science, and true telepresence. While some technologies will advance faster than others, all are essential to create AR/VR experiences so compelling they become an integral part of daily life.
Our internships last twelve (12) to sixteen (16), or twenty-four (24) weeks, with various start dates throughout the year.
Research Scientist Intern, Holography & Material (PhD) Responsibilities Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners, communicating research plans, progress, and results. Present research results and contribute to research applicable to Meta AR/VR visions. Develop key subsystems for next-generation AR/VR displays, emphasizing modelling, laboratory optics experimentation and prototyping to prove new concepts. Collaborate with the larger Meta Reality Labs Research team to explore novel solution spaces for AR/VR devices. Exploration within the following domains: Wave optics, polarization optics, geometrical optics, illumination, holography, diffractive optics.
