JOB DESCRIPTION:
Conducts innovative scientific investigation by developing theories and devising scientific methods and procedures to apply scientific principles, theories and research in projects related to the mission of UTMB. Committed to the discovery of new innovative biomedical and health services knowledge leading to increasingly effective and accessible health care. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard scientific techniques and procedures while using judgment when necessary to adapt standard methods and techniques.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Research Scientist will play a key role in advancing the laboratory’s research goals by designing and executing experimental studies, preparing manuscripts and reports for publication, and contributing to grant applications and scientific presentations. The position requires close collaboration with the Principal Investigator (PI) to enhance laboratory operations and support other team members as needed. The Research Scientist will also be responsible for ensuring that all necessary institutional and federal approvals for work with select agents are obtained and maintained, in full compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
