The Fire Research Group at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Part-Time Research Scholar to work with Dr. Sunil Kumar.

Tandon fosters student and faculty innovation and entrepreneurship that makes a difference in the world. NYU Fire Research Group conducts research to improve the safety of firefighters and civilians. It specializes in conducting live burns experiments, simulation-based techniques, artificial intelligence, and advanced training for firefighters. The research conducted by the group has produced revolutionary changes in the US fire service, and fire departments across the nation utilize the firefighting procedures developed by the group.
Expectations
Candidates will be responsible for conducting research on improving the safety and health of firefighters using machine learning techniques and simulation techniques.
Salary range
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $30/hour, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
Expected start date and period of employment
The expected start date is July 1st This position is expected to be for 3 months. Part-time appointments would require a work schedule of approximately 27 hours per week.
Candidates should have at least a Masters degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, technology management, data science, statistics, and applied mathematics or a related field. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
