**101210BR** **Job Title:** Research Process Engineer **Department/Function:** Human Resources **Job Description:** **Research Process Engineer** **,** **Archer Daniels Midland Company** **,** **Decatur, IL.** Conduct engineering studies and recommend improvements for industrial processes related to industrial food, industrial chemicals, and advanced biofuels processes. Evaluate production and pilot process issues to determine root causes. Recommend process improvements. Prepare mass and energy balances for unit operations or entire plants. Design experiments for plant and pilot trials to support technical evaluations. Provide technical support, and collaborate with engineers, vendors, and contractors. Write detailed reports, prepare presentations, and manage engineering and research projects. Be actively involved in advancing new research ideas through structured project management processes. 40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Salary range: $145,000 - 155,000/year. Must have five (5) years of experience with/in: + Process operation or design of piloting improvement projects in the food or chemical industry; + Fermentation and enzymatic processes; + Solid/liquid separations and evaporation/drying, adsorption and affinity based separations, and varied chemical reactions; + Evaluating and implementing new technologies into existing production facilities; + Understanding of complex system interactions and identifying the root causes of process irregularities; + Recommending process improvements based on evaluation of findings; + Functioning within matrix project management environment; + Analyzing and interpreting scientific data during design and evaluation of chemical processes; and + Preparing comprehensive reports and presentations for managers, engineers, and other business teams.
