Smmary:

The FCS Research Navigator plays a crucial role in increasing awareness and access to clinical trials by engaging directly with patients, caregivers, and community members. This position provides education about clinical research, connects patients to appropriate clinical trial opportunities,  and serves as a supportive liaison between patients and research staff. The Research Navigator also supports community outreach by coordinating educational Town Hall events and participating in community-based activities to promote clinical research awareness.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research Navigation and Support:Facilitate connections between patients (or caregivers), research staff, and healthcare providers to ensure clear communication and hand-offs.Support web-based screening and callback program and ensure timely follow-up with patients or community members expressing interest in clinical trials.Welcome patients at clinics and provide educational materials and resources on clinical trials.

Community Engagement & Education:Plan, coordinate, and operationalize education Town Hall and community outreach events to raise awareness about clinical research.

Collaboration & Communication:Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable resource for patients, families, community members and healthcare staff.Ensure accurate and timely communication of trial-related information while maintaining patient confidentiality.Build strong relationships with community organizations, clinic teams, and research staff to expand awareness and access to clinical trials.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, research, social work, education or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

1-2 years of experience in  any of the following or related field: clinical research, customer service in a healthcare environment, community engagement/outreach, education, medical assistant.Prior experience working with rural populations helpful.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening, oral and written communication, presenting, and the ability to explain complex information in plain language.Ability to engage and build trust with patients, caregivers, and community members from diverse backgrounds.Good command of the English language. Second language is an asset but not required.Strong customer service focus. Must be approachable and comfortable approaching others.Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and tact. Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters.Proficiency with computer applications and comfort navigating a web-based platform and data entry systems.Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
