Job Summary
The Research Office Sponsor Specialist 1 helps Sponsors in research projects. They provide grant and contract services to investigators and staff during proposal preparation, submission, and contract negotiations. This position resolves complex, discreet, and non-routine issues related to contract negotiations and administration.
Essential Functions of the Role
Represents the organization to Sponsors in the preparation, delivery and revision of proposals for funding and contracts.Provides help and guidance to the research staff on contracts and grants. Negotiates and executes contracts and budgets with external customers.Oversees and assists in logistics for large-scale proposals. Helps with final preparation, review, and submission to meet Sponsor deadlines.Serves as a liaison for investigators and coordinators with Business Development, Clinical Trials Office, Post Award, and external funding sources. Maintains ongoing contact with the Post-Award Office to help resolve post-award issues.Maintains template research agreements, material transfer agreements, and confidential disclosure agreements for negotiations with Sponsors. Prepares required Sponsor forms, contracts, assurance, and other documents.Maintains communication through website regarding notices, news on grants, deadlines and tips on writing and grant development strategies.Provides information and training guidance to investigators, coordinators, and staff in research funding. Facilitates training in formal programs and impromptu settings as needed.Tracks conflicts of interest disclosures. May serve on the BRI Conflicts of Interest Committee and other committees.Key Success Factors
