Job Summary
Responsibilities
Performs the testing, cryopreservation, storage, thawing, culturing, and maintenance operations as they pertain to existing lymphoblastoid cell lines and induced pluripotent stem cells in the lab.
Supervises distribution, transfer, and shipment of cell lines from the Gilad lab to interested parties.
Prepares RNA libraries for sequencing, including single-cell RNA preparations on the Drop-seq and 10X Genomics sequencing platforms.
Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies.
Maintains laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality standards; developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; ensuring staff compliance; certifying instrument performance; arranging equipment service and repair.
Develops procedures to ensure safety, security, quality, and accuracy of results.
Support regulatory compliance efforts in accordance with governmental and departmental protocols. Implement, organize and maintain regulatory compliance records.
Assists with the administration of laboratory budget. Manages appropriate use of funds from multiple sources, including, federally awarded funds, foundation funds and donation accounts.
Responds to email communications and other requests promptly and courteously.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a constantly evolving schedule is required, as stem cell culturing requires the ability to work long hours and occasional weekends.
Uses subject matter and best practices knowledge to perform lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Works independently to assist with project design.
Solves complex problems relating to the administration of projects, including planning new procedures, adapting existing procedures to the needs of the project, and making significant contributions to methodology.
Performs other related work as needed.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or relevant fields.
Experience:
Previous lab management experience.
Preferred Competencies
Detail-oriented with possess strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.
Ability to train others required.
Knowledge in molecular biology, cell biology, and genetics.
Familiarity with single-cell sequencing platforms.
Familiarity with stem cell culture and differentiation techniques.
