The laboratory of Roger Cone at the Life Sciences Institute is looking for an experienced mammalian cell culture expert with expertise in GPCR pharmacology and drug discovery. Our laboratory is currently funded in part by a sponsored research agreement with Courage Therapeutics to develop best-in-class melanocortin drugs for eating disorders, including obesity and anorexia nervosa. You will focus on mammalian cell culture, pharmacological assays, high throughput screening, and pharmacological data management and analyses using Graph Pad Prism and Excel. You will be involved in peptide drug discovery research, report directly to Dr. Cone and perform the work onsite.

Responsibilities*Experimental job responsibilities will include:
Culture, management, quality control, and storage of mammalian tissue culture cell linesMammalian cell transfection, selection, and characterizationPolymerase chain reactionPharmacological assays using mammalian cells, including cAMP assays, ERK assays, b-arrestin recruitment assays, and ligand binding assaysCollect and analyze laboratory samplesMaintain well-organized, written records of experimental resultsNon-experimental job responsibilities will include:
Collection and management of cell culture and pharmacological datasets using Graphpad Prism and Excel.Demonstrate an understanding of acceptable procedures and techniquesFollow University safety protocols (may include use of combustibles, toxic material, radioactive material, or carcinogens)Prepare reagentsOrder supplies and reagentsRequired Qualifications*Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related disciplineThree (3) years prior laboratory research experienceThree (3) years prior experience with mammalian cell cultureThree (3) years prior designing experiments, analyzing, and presenting data, with training as needed.Desired Qualifications*One (1) year of training in cell pharmacologyOne (1) year of experience in High throughput cell-based screeningOne (1) year of DNA preparation and PCR experienceOne (1) year of experience with Excel or Graphpad PrismModes of WorkPositions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
