Research Intern - Thoracic Head & Neck Medical Oncology (Tina Cascone)

A Research Intern position is available in the Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer in Houston, TX. We seek a highly motivated research intern with a passion to understand the immune-mediated mechanisms of treatment response and resistance to immune-based therapies in early-stage non-small cell lung cancer. The primary research focus of the research intern will be to utilize mouse models of spontaneously metastatic non-small cell lung cancer to identify novel strategies to augment current immune-based therapies and to examine the spatial immune interactions in the tumor microenvironment.
*LEARNING OBJECTIVES*
• Learn to design, conduct, and analyze results from preclinical samples using different approaches (such as immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry).
• Learn to perform translational analyses of patient samples to generate novel findings.
• Develop skills in study design, data interpretation, oral communication and presentation.
*ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS*
• Applicants must hold a bachelor's or master's degree, obtained within the past year.
• Applicants must have previous research experience.
• Applicants who hold a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (e.g., M.D., D.V.M., M.B.B.S.) are not eligible.
• Training will take place under the supervision of a faculty member or mentor.
• Appointments must be for a minimum of 30 days and may not exceed 6 months.
*POSITION INFORMATION*
This position (full-time or part-time) provides a stipend between $28,000 and $37,440.07/04/2025
