Job Details:
PurposeThe Pediatric Research Engineering/ Scientist Associate (RESA) will support research initiatives focused on pediatric mental health at Dell Children’s Medical Center. The RESA will assist in various research-related tasks under the direction of a faculty supervisor, requiring a foundational understanding of research methods and strong attention to detail. This role provides opportunities for hands-on experience in data collection, research operations, and dissemination of findings.
This is a partner funded position with an end date of 8/31/26, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward research goals.
ResponsibilitiesStudy Coordination and Data Collection
Support data collection during monthly workshops, on the medical floors, and outpatient clinic
Manage technology used for data collection, including maintaining iPads.
Participate in logistical aspects of clinical work including workshop support and collecting data when patients are admitted to the hospital. Coordinate follow-up data collection with study participants
Serve as a liaison between psychology faculty and research participants as needed
Contribute to the maintenance and adherence of project procedures
Data management and reporting of results
Maintain and manage study databases, including REDCap (training provided if needed)
Enter, clean, and organize study data; support preparation of descriptive statistics
Support data integrity through documentation and quality checks
Participate in literature reviews and assist in preparation of materials for publication or presentation
Assist in the preparation of research posters, manuscripts, or presentations at professional conferences (e.g., APA Division 54, 2025)
Maintain the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) document
Protocol Submissions and Adherence
Help with submission and modification of IRB protocols and other compliance documents
Ensure protocol compliance and assist in tracking reporting timelines and requirements
Communicate with IRB staff and study investigators to facilitate updates and regulatory adherence
Participate in team meetings to review study updates and procedural modifications
Quality control procedures
Support presentation planning and submission of research findings locally (e.g., Dell Children’s Clinical Leadership)
Assist in coordination with collaborators for potential data pooling and integration
Help track dissemination goals and timelines
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Interest in clinical research and pediatric health
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsPrior experience in clinical research, especially with children or behavioral health
Familiarity with REDCap and/or Qualtrics (or willingness to learn)
Experience with IRB protocol preparation and regulatory procedures
Familiarity with basic data analysis and literature review
Previous experience in poster or manuscript preparation
Demonstrated interest in pursuing research dissemination opportunities
Salary Range$40,000 + depending on qualifications
Working ConditionsMay work around standard office conditions
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
Occasional weekend, overtime and evening work to meet deadlines
Occasional interstate, intrastate and international travel
100% on-campus position at Dell Children’s Medical Center with required on-site presence during the scheduled work week.
