**Summary:**
Meta Reality Labs Research (RL Research) brings together a world-class R&D team of researchers, developers, and engineers with the shared goal of developing AI and AR/VR technology across the spectrum. The Surreal Spatial AI group is seeking high-performing research scientists to build machine perception technology allowing AI agents and systems to perceive and understand the 3D world around them.The aim of this role is to develop, advance and integrate ML, computer vision models and SW systems for advanced, full-stack, real-time machine perception for egocentric devices such as Meta's Project Aria, including dynamic object detection and tracking, estimation and understanding of user motion, actions and activities, and learning of predictive, causal world models for embodied AI agents and egocentric devices.
**Required Skills:**
Research Engineer, ML, AI & Computer Vision Responsibilities:
1. Build/integrate real-time prototypes for advanced, real-time 3D machine perception systems as part of a fast-moving research and research engineering team.
2. Research, develop, and iterate on the data collection/generation pipeline along with state of art ML algorithms/models for dynamic object detection and tracking, estimation and understanding of user motion, actions and activities.
3. Collaborate with team members throughout the lifetime of a project, from early research through technology and experience prototyping.
4. Play a critical role in the definition and execution of system research roadmaps in partnership and cross functional organizations in computer vision, machine learning, graphics, sensors, optics and silicon.

5. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
6. Experience developing and designing Computer Vision and Perception for Robotics or smart device technologies and systems.
7. 5+ years of experience with a mastery of modern features in C++.
8. 3+ years of experience python experience, including appropriate ML frameworks.
9. Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-functional collaboration

10. Industrial experience working on real-time, high-performance machine perception systems in dynamic scene understanding, robotics, AR/VR, or other areas
11. Hands-on experience building state-of-the-art of AI algorithms and models, ML training and data pipelines.
12. Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as publications at leading workshops, journals or conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ICRA, IROS, RSS, CoRL, CVPR, ICCV and ECCV.
13. Experience working autonomously, handling ambiguous projects, identifying roadmap and priorities in a self-driven manner
14. MSc or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Robotics or a related technical field.
**Public Compensation:**
$70.67/hour to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
