The Research Associate supports crops activities and is responsible for coordinating, planning and effectively conducting field experiments. This includes recording, analyzing, and cataloging experimental data. The incumbent will provide leadership in managing activities for multiple crops including soybean, corn, wheat, sorghum and cotton activities, from seed receive to harvest and delivery.

What You'll Do:
Coordinate field activities with partners to prioritize tasks and efficiently manage temporary workers.
Manage and supervise field personnel, providing detailed instructions for each step of the process, including (but not limited to) seed receipt and preparation, hand or mechanical planting, maintenance, data collection, harvest and tissue sampling.
Maintain clear communication with the Agronomy team to ensure proper crop management during all growth stages and with the Operations Team to ensure all harvest instructions are correctly implemented.
Collect and manage field notes, including data on nick issues, stand counts, pollination counts, blasting and, segregation, harvest data, phenotypic observations, among others.
Analyze data and generate reports to support the nursery advancement process; upload data into the corporate databases to ensure proper reporting and data analysis.
Proficiently use IT applications to support nursery automation, data collection, and data management.
Recruit, organize, and supervise temporary employees. while overseeing full-time and part-time personnel in both field and indoor activities.
Promote a safe, effective and accurate work environment besides supervising full-time and part-time personnel in the field as well as indoor activities. by ensuring compliance with company safety protocols and quality standards.
Maintain an organized workspace and ensure tools, materials, and data are properly stored and accessible.
Motivate employees and ensure accuracy and efficiency in task performance, foster teamwork and accountability.
Provide leadership and guidance to support staff involved in field research activities.
Contribute to the success of the CROPS team and the overall Puerto Rico Research Center by promoting a positive work attitude, following safety protocols, and assisting with other crops as needed.
What Skills You Need:

Conflict management and problem-solving abilities to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
High attention to accuracy, timeliness, and adaptability to change in fast-paced research settings.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and working in varying ergonomic environments.
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams and leading field personnel to accomplish research goals.
Fully Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate fluently in both languages.
