The purpose of the Research Associate role is to support Trait Evaluation Operations’ efforts to produce and distribute quality seed with precision, accuracy and efficiency. This role will primarily focus on seed lab activities – seed preparation, shipping, and inventory management.
Accountabilities
• Coordinate nursery trial packaging activities.
• Execute all seed requests in a timely manner.
• Manage all seed inventory activities such as storage, organization, retention, accuracy, and discarding.
• Implement strong ways of working to maintain integrity of seed inventory, packaging, field layout, pollinating, threshing and data collection.
• Train and mentor junior team members and seasonal staff in operational and/or agronomic processes.
• Function as an integral member of the TE Operations team.
• Perform all tasks and behave in a manner compliant with and in support of all safety and stewardship related company policies and practices, including completing all required company training courses.
• Effectively communicate regularly with peers and supervisors regarding the status of projects and work activities.
• Assist in other operational activities of planting, pollinating, and harvest as needed.

Qualifications
• A minimum of B.S. Degree, preferably in agricultural related disciplines.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s history.
• Ability to obtain a Chemical Applicator’s License within 3-6 months of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications
• Ability to work in high or low temperature conditions in field. Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Capable of working long hours during time-critical periods of the growing season.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be highly organized, and be able to collaborate across teams.
• Ability to use MS Office, especially Word, Excel, Power Point and other standard office software.
• Ability to perform manual labor tasks, such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to effectively work in outdoor field environment, greenhouse and/or controlled laboratory environments.
• Basic understanding of Agriculture R&D Seed production, plant genetics and breeding.
• Basic understanding of regulatory compliance & stewardship seed industry requirements and guidelines.
• Experience in operating machinery, and/or agricultural research equipment.
