Responsibilities*

This individual will provide pre-award and post-award grant support to faculty and trainees as a member of the research administration team in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Kresge Hearing Research Institute.

Pre-award responsibilities include assisting faculty and trainees in the development, preparation, and timely submission of grant and contract proposals to various sponsors including NIH, DOD, NSF, foundations and industry as well as internal sponsors. 

Review and adhere to proposal submission guidelinesNavigate through various on-line proposal submission systemsDevelop complex budgets and budget justificationsPrepare all administrative components of proposal submission packagesEnsure that all proposal and support materials meet sponsor, Medical School and University guidelines and deadlinesPrepare and process Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) agreementsCoordinate with other collaborating institutions, departments, schools, Medical School Office of Research and U-M Office of Research and Sponsored Projects to ensure timely submission to sponsorsPAF submission via eResearchMaintain documents for proposalsPrepare all types of Unfunded Agreements (UFAs) in eResearchPrepare information for just-in-time requestsManage and meet multiple, overlapping deadlinesStay abreast of new regulations and changing requirements

Post-award responsibilities include assisting faculty with progress reports, establishing subcontracts to other institutions, and assisting faculty with post award change requests including rebudgeting and extensions. 

Create and/or provide information for progress reports, subcontracts, renewals and close-out activitiesInvestigate and resolve project issuesPrepare responses to inquiries

Associate: 

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.1 - 3 years of grant and contract experience

Assistant: 

Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

 

Desired Qualifications* Experience preparing NIH and DOD proposals, contracts, foundation grants, as well as NIH training grant or other large grant proposals is strongly preferred Post-award experience is desired Familiarity and experience with University administrative and business tools such as M-Pathways, M-Reports, Business Objects and eResearch Knowledge of University and various UM school/college policies and processesWork Locations

Background Screening
