**42156BR** **Requisition ID:** 42156BR **Business Unit:** TSU **Job Description:** CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Hydrogeologist, Geologist, or Environmental Engineer / Technical Expert to join our Remediation practice in a national capacity. The individual will contribute to advancing the remedial investigation discipline by ensuring the effective application of technology, fostering growth within our technical capabilities, supporting staff development, pre-positioning the firm for new opportunities, and enhancing CDM Smith's market distinction to support sales growth and client and staff retention. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in remedial investigations under CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, and relevant state regulations. Experience in requisite models and data analytics, including high-resolution site characterization (HRSC), environmental sequence stratigraphy (ESS), and hydrogeologic site characterization to build robust conceptual site models (CSMs) for remediation decision-making is required. Expertise in PFAS characterization, familiarity with evolving regulatory frameworks, and challenges with emerging contaminants is desired. Understanding and experience with the design and implementation of remedial technologies for groundwater, sediments, and soil are essential. The role also supports CDM Smith’s marketing and business development efforts in innovative site characterization and remediation solutions. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong record of conference presentations and publications. The preferred candidate demonstrates strong leadership skills as a task leader or manager and has a clear commitment to professional growth. As a member of our team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by: • Supporting site remediation assessments and feasibility studies, emphasizing the appropriate application of technology and advancing our technical capabilities within the discipline. • Evaluating conventional and emerging remedial investigation technologies to identify optimal solutions for characterization of a broad spectrum of industrial, commercial, and Superfund sites. • Collaborating with local, national, and international technical teams on site characterization for organic, inorganic, or radioactive contaminants, including PFAS and other emerging contaminants of concern. • Conducting and guiding studies that assess and document contaminant distribution, fate, and transport for designated contaminants of concern. • Contributing to the technical sales, design, and implementation of remedial investigations addressing various contaminants such as VOCs, SVOCs, metals/inorganics, PCBs, and PFAS. • Identifying investigation requirements for emerging contaminants • Working closely with the sales team to develop strategic approaches and proactively position CDM Smith to win projects with both new and existing clients. This involves aligning technical expertise with client needs and participating in pursuit planning to strengthen our competitive edge. • Developing and reviewing site characterization strategies and budgets for technical proposals. • Preparing comprehensive CSMs through narrative, graphic, and quantitative methods and models, including using advanced analytics tools. • Creating effective 3-D visualizations of CSMs. • Compiling and curating relevant technical information, reference materials, and go-byes for inclusion in CDM Smith’s Technical Knowledge Portal. • Facilitating knowledge transfer among staff via informative Remedial Investigation Discipline Calls. • Delivering technical presentations at conferences and to external client webinars. • Actively engaging in mentoring and the Technical Specialist Development Program. • Supporting marketing and business development initiatives related to site characterization. • Ensuring compliance with firm policies and required practices across all project work. • Acquiring proficiency in task and project management methodologies and the CDM Smith management system. **Job Title:** Remedial Investigations Discipline Leader **Group:** ESO **Employment Type:** Regular **Minimum Qualifications:** Bachelor's degree. 12 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
