Reliability Test Engineer II

As a Test Engineer II, you will play a critical role in supporting the full lifecycle of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic testing for our products—from initial design and development through manufacturing and field deployment. Your primary responsibility will be to plan, execute, and analyze comprehensive testing activities that verify product functionality, performance, regulatory compliance, and long-term reliability. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including reliability engineering, design, manufacturing, regulatory, quality assurance, and laboratory operations to ensure that products meet stringent specifications and that our test processes continuously improve.

Key Responsibilities

\n\nLead and participate in all stages of product development and production with a focus on safe and effective electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic testing and validation.\nDevelop, document, and implement detailed test plans and procedures for fuel dispenser components, payment systems, and assemblies.\nMaintain a safety-first approach by identifying and mitigating hazards during testing through appropriate safeguards and control systems.\nPartner with design and reliability engineering teams to define and refine test requirements that confirm product robustness and regulatory compliance.\nSupport validation efforts of electrical hardware and firmware/software through functional, environmental, and accelerated life testing.\nDrive continuous improvements by developing lab and test technology roadmaps aligned with organizational and market needs.\nAnalyze test data and equipment performance to identify failure modes and product issues; propose and implement corrective actions.\nLead root cause analyses (RCA) for test failures and field returns, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.\nTroubleshoot and resolve test equipment problems to ensure safety, test continuity, and maximize equipment uptime and utilization.\nUtilize a variety of test equipment and automated test systems including in-circuit testers, functional testers, materials analyzers, FCC/EMC test setups, environmental stress screening, and accelerated life test platforms.\nMaintain and update comprehensive test documentation including protocols, reports, and failure analysis records.\nIdentify opportunities for process improvements to enhance test coverage, efficiency, and accuracy.\nMentor junior engineers and technicians, promoting best practices in test engineering and product quality.\nManage electrical test data and actively contribute to Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) processes.\nCollaborate with external regulatory and certification bodies such as UL, CUL, ATEX, and CENAM to ensure compliance with relevant test standards. \n

Background and Skills

\n\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant test engineering and laboratory experience. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.\nSolid understanding of electro-mechanical systems, environmental testing, and design validation principles.\nProven experience with electrical functional testing, in-circuit testing, environmental stress screening, and accelerated life testing.\nSkilled in analyzing test data using quantitative and statistical methods.\nFamiliar with electrical design and reliability concepts including Design for Testability (DFT).\nExperienced with test automation, PLC programming, data acquisition hardware/software, and test management systems.\nStrong troubleshooting skills and ability to conduct thorough root cause analyses on product and test equipment failures.\nExcellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.\nKnowledge of industry standards such as UL, IEC, ASTM, and others related to product testing and certification.\nExperience with Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) is a plus.\nCertification such as ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer or equivalent is desirable but not mandatory.\n
