Job DescriptionThe Reliability Engineer will support and lead capital projects, maintenance, and reliability improvement initiatives at the Metro Vancouver Waste to Energy Facility.
A strong focus is required on improving plant and plant equipment conditions through the capital works program and through pre-defined maintenance and asset management strategies as well as thorough analysis techniques.
A key objective of this position is to improve safety, reliability, and plant uptime by applying the most cost-effective maintenance strategies using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), preventing recurring failures using Root Cause Analysis, and optimizing other processes related to maintaining these sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate Reliability Centered Maintenance analysis.Implement Maintenance and Reliability strategies and plans into Veolia's corporate Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Supports and manages projects based on the Facilities Capital Works Plan.Supports in developing the Asset Register and Hierarchies.Develop and implement equipment reliability strategies, including condition monitoring, visual inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and equipment mapping.Oversee the implementation of predictive technologies, including vibration analysis, ultrasonic analysis, thermography, PdMA, oil analysis, corrosion detection, and dissolved gas analysis.Support the lubrication program effectiveness and the hydraulics improvement plan.Complete Equipment Criticality Assessments/Analyses.Implement a Bad Actor Management program.Lead technical incident investigations through Root Cause Failure Analysis (Cause Mapping/Fault Tree Diagram/5Whys/Cost Benefit Analysis) and implementation of recommended solutions.Perform Engineering Reliability & Performance Analysis/Monitoring.Develop critical spare parts strategies.Support in establishing Maintenance job plans including shutdowns/turnaround/outages.Contribute and develop standard operating procedures as needed.Support technical exchanges with service subcontractors and equipment suppliers/OEM.QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Required Certifications:
B.S. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related field).Over 5 years of experience as a Reliability Engineer, Operations Engineer, or Maintenance Engineer.Possesses technical knowledge and exposure in Thermal Power Plants or similar environments.Possession of a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (or similar) certification, such as MMP, CMRP, or CRE, is preferred but not mandatory. Eligible for registration under EGBC is an asset.Possesses working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems and data analytics.Highly motivated, dynamic, and self-disciplined individual with strong technical competence and excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.Good communication, interpretation, and active listening skills, comfortable communicating at all organizational levels, and computer literate with MS Office, Google, and similar software.Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and wearing a respirator when necessary.Working Environment:
A permanent, full-time position is being offered, with a working schedule from Monday to Friday. The primary shift is during the day, starting between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM.
The plant operates 24/7, and the selected candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends if required to meet operational needs or for emergency shutdown projects.
Must be able to work in a power plant environment, including exposure to noise, heat, and industrial hazards
Salary Range:
$80,000- $120,000 + eligible for company annual bonus program
