Release Manager

Position Overview

The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.

A Release Manager oversees the planning, scheduling, and coordination of software releases, ensuring smooth deployments with minimal disruption. They are responsible for managing the entire release lifecycle, from planning to post-release activities, and act as a bridge between development, operations, and other stakeholders

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop comprehensive release plans, including timelines, dependencies, and resource allocation.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration between development, QA, operations, and other teams involved in the release process.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with releases, ensuring smooth deployments and minimal disruption.
• Ensure that releases meet quality standards and adhere to established best practices.
• Create and maintain release documentation, including runbooks and implementation guides.
• Effectively communicate release information to all stakeholders, including development teams, operations, and business stakeholders.
• Monitor release performance, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement in future releases.
Skills and Experience:
• Understanding of software development lifecycles, CI/CD pipelines, and release management tools.
• Experience with project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to identify and resolve issues related to releases and deployments.
• Ability to effectively manage relationships with various stakeholders and ensure alignment on release plans.
• Experience in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with software releases.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A STRONG CANDIDATE:
• Good technical experience in Java, Oracle, DevOps, Systems Support or related technologies.
• Experience with project planning and progress monitoring, including milestone control and budget control, for large, complex projects.
• Experience and proficiency in creating reports through various means, including Microsoft Excel.
• Strong negotiation and presentation skills – clear, concise communications
• Understanding of Agile methodologies.
• Payments experience a plus.

Job DescriptionManages multiple aspects of technology releases, ensuring the coordinated integration of applications and systems within various portfolio stream.Serves as a subject matter expert while partnering with various teams to build release schedule and project plan/milestones for an application and/or project. Leads the build and maintenance of the infrastructure for configuration and release management, for new or enhanced application systems.Leads the quality check on change releases to ensure processes are following enterprise standards, guidelines and best practices. Creates and maintains deployment plan success guides within segments and projects ahead of release execution. Oversees configuration management procedures and processes.Consults and collaborates with peers to provide oversight and ensure proper use of tools, methods and schedules to enable compliance with the change management process.Executes change management processes appropriately. Documents release management process improvement opportunities and ensures proper escalation as needed.Mentors and trains others on release coordination, deployment, and overall best practices.
