The Regulatory Analyst is a member of Kinder Morgan’s Rates and Regulatory department and will be based out of Colorado Springs, CO. Primary Purpose:
Staff position responsible for the preparation and maintenance of models and data required for rate case, fuel and other regulatory filings with the FERC. Based on experience level, job responsibilities include the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare cost of service, cost allocation and rate design studies in support of the Company’s rate and tariff filings with the FERCMaintain internal models, systems and information required for rate case filingsPrepare reports and analyses of revenues, costs, and returns, as requestedMonitor fuel imbalances for multiple pipes and prepare routine fuel filings with FERCPrepare rate and fuel related exhibits and documentation for new facility Section 7 certificate filingsPrepare and maintain miscellaneous monthly, quarterly, or annual reportsManage and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customersOther duties as assigned Position Requirements
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or similar quantitative discipline.Minimum 5 years direct work experience with cost of service and/or rate design in a natural gas or electric utility industry environment. Less experienced candidates with a graduate business degree may be considered.Experience, Skills, Competencies, and Knowledge:
Strong modeling, quantitative and data manipulation skills.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required. Familiarity with Word, Power Point and Access desirable.Ability to organize and analyze large sets of numbers and data.Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve complex regulatory issues/problems.Proven communication and presentation skills, oral and written, with ability to communicate with a variety of individuals and personalities both internal and outside the organization.Ability to organize and prioritize work and handle multiple tasks.Ability to work with a team.Ability to perform duties with little direct supervision.In addition to the above requirements, the below attributes are not required but are advantageous in this position:CPA, CFA or equivalentPrior experience with US GAAP and FERC financial reportingExperience with regulatory work in a natural gas or electric utility environment, including knowledge of all required statements required for a rate case filingGeneral familiarity with interstate pipeline tariffs.Knowledge of FERC regulations and requirements for rate case filings.The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This position may perform other duties as assigned. Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets. The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
Pay range: $61,000 - $163,500 per year. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
