Forest Veterinary Centre is offering an excellent opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team on a fixed-term contract. This role has arisen due to maternity leave at our newly refurbished Isle of Dogs branch.
You will be joining a small, dedicated team consisting of 2 vets, 2 PCAs, 1 CCA, and occasional part-time SVN support. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic RVN ideally with clinical coach experience who is confident working autonomously and passionate about developing both the practice and their team.
The Isle of Dogs branch is well-equipped and has recently undergone full refurbishment. You’ll also have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced team at our Epping hospital an ISFM Silver Cat Friendly Clinic, supported by a wide range of certificate holders and advanced equipment, including rigid and flexible endoscopy, laparoscopy, CT and MRI.

Key Responsibilities:Deliver consistently high standards of care to all patients.
Undertake all general nursing duties within the practice and provide assistance to all veterinary surgeons when required.
Administer treatment (e.g. injections, medications, fluid therapy, dressings, and euthanasia as directed) and dispense medication as instructed by the veterinary surgeon, all in accordance with professional guidelines and practice policies.
Care for all in-patients including pre-operative care and medication, monitoring and recovery, and post-operative care and medication.
Ensure you are organised and well prepared for incoming patients, and provide support during periods of low staffing.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records including anaesthetic sheets, hospitalisation forms, and medical notes.
Participate in the admission and discharge process of patients, ensuring clear and compassionate communication with clients.
Support reception duties when required, including updating clients on in-patient progress via telephone.
Ensure effective stock rotation and replenishment where applicable.
Participate in any out-of-hours nursing rota as agreed.
Clean and maintain all clinical and patient areas, ensuring equipment is sterilised appropriately and any faults or damage are reported promptly.
Carry out and be accountable for specific tasks delegated by the Clinical Nursing Manager or Practice Manager.
Assist with practice marketing initiatives such as open evenings or client events.
Adhere to health and safety procedures, including the safe operation, cleaning, and maintenance of anaesthetic machines, scavenger units, and all clinical equipment.
Familiarise yourself with Health and Safety policies and escalate any concerns to the Clinical Nursing Manager.
Welcome and support visiting veterinary surgeons, students, and work experience placements to ensure a safe and educational working environment.
Liaise effectively with colleagues across all departments to ensure smooth and efficient teamwork.
Attend regular meetings with the Clinical Nursing Manager and wider team to maintain strong communication and operational alignment.
Actively participate in relevant CPD and in-house training, completing post-training feedback and sharing knowledge with team members.
