Permanent position: 40 hours + 1 in 4 weekends.

We are recruiting for a full time role but would consider job share. Our main practice at Solihull is open from 8am to 7pm and the rota reflects this. The branch sites are open 9am to 7pm. We also have our own separate team that provide an in-house night service covering 7pm to 8am, 7 days a week.

We have a great team at 608, a good mix of longstanding associates and more newly qualified, and often home-grown, nurses. Established for over 90 years, 608 Vet Practice offer primary care services for small animals and pets in the locations of Solihull, Acocks Green and Bentley Health. All our practices offer a full range of veterinary care, 24 hours a day seven days a week from our highly experienced team who strive to provide excellent quality veterinary care.

We are a busy practice so need the successful applicant to be keen to get stuck in. We have a nurse role scanner structure for our PCA & Nurse team that means you have definite goals for your career and the opportunity to discuss with your line manager how to move forward. Some of your duties will include:

undertake all general nursing duties and provide assistance to veterinary surgeons as neededTake ownership of your duties and carry them out to a high standardadminister treatments and dispense medication as instructed by the vet and in accordance with professional guidelines and practice policiesensure accurate records are keptproviding an efficient, courteous and helpful service to all clients, suppliers and external contactscarry out the admission and discharge of patients; the accuracy of which is of vital importancedemonstrate a commitment to continued professional development and the support the development of your colleaguesliaise between the nursing team and other teams within the practice to ensure effective communicationprovide support if necessary to cover low staffing periodsengage and promote health and safety protocolsparticipate in the celaning and maintenance of the premises and animal areas and particularly the clinical areasensure effective stock rotation/replenishment where applicable

About us

608 practice was established in 1932, we are Primary Care, multi-site practice, focusing on small animals and pets. We have practices in Solihull, Bentley Heath and Acocks Green a great location with great transport links and close to an airport!

We provide 24-hour emergency service at the Solihull hospital, which is well-equipped to deal with a large range of operations from routine neutering to exploratory laparotomies. Our 24-hour site allows exceptional patient care and case follow through, enabled by our internal lab with great testing scope (cortisol, bile acids, blood gases, ionised calcium, in-house culture and sensitive testing ect.)

The 608 Vets team is well-established with a great reputation and puts emphasis on compassionate care and service. Our team is indeed experienced with 15 Vets, 25 Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) / Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs) and Patient Care Assistants (PCAs). We fully encourage further studies with 6 of our Vets currently studying towards a certificate including surgery, internal medicine, business and exotics. We can offer great support from our experienced veterinary surgeons to cover most disciplines, including a large exotics caseload, with appropriate equipment for those interested. Plus a comprehensive range of orthopaedic and ophthalmic equipment could be available in the development of these disciplines.
