Position Summary: The RRT works under supervision of the Respiratory Care Medical Director and Department Manager while performing diagnostic respiratory therapy in accordance with physicians’ specific orders following Tidelands Health’s clinical guidelines and protocols. The RRT works as a charge therapist on a as needed basis when competent to do so.  The RRT assists with daily operations, educating patients, staff, nursing and physicians and has the ability to institute Oxygen Therapy when deemed a necessity without prior notification of the physician.  The RRT completes other duties as assigned while exhibiting exemplary core customer skills.

Essential Functions:

Ensure compliance with patient identification, physician order verification/orders initialed, and patient/family member education of procedure to all age groups.Monitors the delivery of quality respiratory services within all service lines The therapist consistently demonstrates competency in proper procedure via protocol.Deliver quality respiratory services to all clients within all age groups.Review therapies for appropriateness, following established respiratory protocols.Provide administration of oxygen, ventilator care and associated monitoring as well as other critical care to all age groups.Perform work accurately and in a timely manner in periods of crisis as well as emergency situations.Locate medical records in the EMR, enter and complete all orders in Meditech, locate historical reports in cardiac software, print medical records from the EMR and cardiac software, and enter medical record information into cardiac software and EPIC as applicable. This is to include patient documentation in EMR, EPIC notes, all critical lab values via policy and following policy for scanning of patients in MAR with proper sequences.Therapist may oversee others as necessary.Assist with miscellaneous duties as assigned. These duties will include cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, trauma calls, starting new therapies, cleaning and stocking of equipment, transporting and monitoring of patients in specialty areas CT scan X-ray etc..

Qualifications

Education:

Associate’s degree with the completion of a respiratory education program supported by CoARC or JRCRTE or accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs required.

Experience:  

Prior experience as RRT preferred.Prior experience as an inpatient RRT preferred.Understanding of all modalities of therapy relating to Respiratory Care with the ability to apply and teach patients and implement procedures following our protocols required.

License/Certification:

Currently licensed and in good standing as an RCP with the SC State Board of Medical Examiners (NCBME) required. Currently registered and in good standing as a RRT with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)ACLS Required.PALS/NRP preferred

Skills/Knowledge:

Meditech experience preferred.Exemplary core customer skills required

Physical Requirements: Light Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating
