Duties Description Duties include, but are not limited to:• Supervise Nursing Services staff inclusive of scheduling, performance evaluations, documented supervision and managing daily activities of the nurse’s station. • Maintain and oversee nurse staffing schedule and assignments. • Provide general supervision of the care of patients.• Consult with physicians, psychiatrists and other clinicians.• Assist with drafting/updating of ATC policies and procedures.• Completion of all nursing related documentation, reports, records; ensure that nursing staff complete all necessary documentation related to patients, medication and supplies. • Provide monthly data and complete relevant reports. • Provide educational lectures and health related education as needed to staff and patients.• Perform daily rounds to observe nursing service to ensure good nursing care. • Provide direct nursing care to patients as needed, including participation in the voluntary and mandatory nursing rotation rosters. • Coordinate nursing aspects of the admission, treatment and discharge processes. • Ensure inventories of medical supplies and patient medications are properly maintained. Ensure tracking and management of narcotics is performed properly. • Responsible for updating and maintaining the Nursing and Emergency Procedures manuals; ensure implementation of facility policies and procedures related to nursing. • Participate on the Leadership Committee and interdisciplinary team.• Attend monthly Nurse Administrator meetings and share pertinent information to staff as appropriate. • Ensure health and safety of patients, staff and facility. • Other job related duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications Reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list OR current permanent status as a RN Supervisor 1 Psy and qualified for lateral transfer OR eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law OR eligible for appointment via Sec 4.2b of Rules for the Classified Service. Provisional Qualifications: In the event there is not a valid eligible list, candidates who meet the following qualifications may be qualified for provisional appointment:Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State AND either three years of professional nursing experience in a setting that treats individuals diagnosed with mental illness, alcoholism, or chemical dependency; OR a bachelor's degree* in nursing or health services, healthcare administration, hospital administration, public health, or public administration in the healthcare area field AND two years of professional nursing experience in a setting that treats individuals diagnosed with mental illness, alcoholism, or chemical dependency.*A master's degree in nursing, health services, healthcare administration, hospital administration, public health, or public administration in the healthcare area may be substituted for one year of experience.Note: If you are appointed provisionally, you must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title and your score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before you can be permanently appointed. If you do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score, you may not be retained.**Candidates must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Failure to maintain licensure, certification and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in the termination of employment.
Additional Comments Salary Range:$93,178 - $104,230* Plus Geographic Pay - $20,000 The salary range listed in this posting reflects the full range for this graded position, factoring in annual performance advances based on satisfactory annual performance reviews. Candidates with no previous State service will begin at the hiring rate (starting rate of the salary range) listed above, plus any applicable Location Pay/Geographic Pay/Shift Pay differentials.This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. Chosen candidate(s) will be added to the mandatory overtime roster, which is utilized on a rotating basis. The MOT is applied during times of emergency, after the agency has made a good faith effort to have overtime covered and all other staffing options have been exhausted (volunteers, hourly staff, contracted staff). Our Addiction Treatment Centers (ATCs) operate 24/7/365 programing. Therefore, MOT IS an essential function of this position and is critical to maintaining adequate staffing at all times in order to ensure the health and safety of clients within the facility.Background Investigation Requirements: Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC) that includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees.
