Pre- Surgical Testing CoordinatorScheduled Hours - Daytime hours, May vary depending on team support/needs.Full time - 40 Hours a weekThe coordinator serves as the "Charge RN" along with some other leadership support. Serves as a mentor and resource person for all PST staff. Evaluates current practice, processes and quality and assists in the establishment of goals and action plans. Is a proactive and effective change agent. Supports the policies, procedures, objectives and values of Peri Anesthesia at Advocate Condell Medical Center and Advocate Healthcare.
Major Responsibilities:
Coordination and Communication of Patient Care 1)Ensures the delivery of comprehensive nursing care by nursing staff through planning, implementation, evaluation and education of standards of care and practice and established patient care outcomes. 2)Collaborates with Clinical Manager of Peri Anesthesia Services, Director of Surgical Services, Physicians, Physician Office Managers and other healthcare providers in accordance with standards of practice and regulatory agencies. 3)Provides for direct patient care utilizing the Clinician II RN job description 4)Reviews daily work schedule with unit manager and coordinates appropriate resources to provide efficient and timely unit operations. 5)Facilitates effective communication within the department 6)Collaborates and coordinates effectively with lab, pharmacy, radiology and Medical Records personnel to promote effective patient care and collection of patient care information.Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of effective unit operations 1)Assists in the effective utilization of operational resources. 2)Efficiently maintains and utilizes supplies and equipment keeping cost to a minimum. 3)Promotes safe practice and management of risk through activities with patients, staff, infection control, facilities management, environmental services and risk management. 4)Assists in the development of unit operational plans 5)Assists in the implementation and evaluation of process improvement initiativesParticipates in the implementation and evaluation of quality improvement and customer satisfaction 1)Identifies through evaluation areas for quality improvement 2)Assists in the implementation of quality improvement plans 3)Collaborates with the Clinical Manager and Director of Surgical Services on issues related to quality and safety 4)Assists in monitoring customer satisfaction 5)Identifies strategies to promote customer satisfaction in collaboration with other departments and unit leadership 6)Provides for service recoveryParticipates in Staff Selection, Orientation, Evaluation, Development and Utilization 1)Assists in the interviewing and selection of RN and Unit secretary associates. 2)Functions as preceptor and mentor to newly assigned associates 3)Provides oversight for RN and Unit secretary orientation 4)Identifies individual staff learning needs and communicates needs to Peri Anesthesia Leadership 5)Assists staff in meeting individual growth goals and objectives 6)Assists the Clinical Manager in the effective evaluation of job accountabilities and behavioral expectations of associates during the orientation process, 90 Day Review Process and Annual Performance review process by completing formal performance review tools. 7)Assists in the development and implementation of staff education. 8)Provides formal and informal feedback to staff related to process improvement or quality improvement deficiencies and performance issues. 9)Provides oversight for unit scheduling and daily staffingPromotes a professional work environment 1)Optimizes team cohesiveness when working with staff members providing patient care. 2)Provides for timely coordination of patient care activities 3)Practices leadership behaviors through role-modeling, coaching and mentoring to support team outcomes and achievements with staff. 4)Demonstrates team unity by equally representing staff interests to the team. 5)Demonstrates consistency in responses to staff as a member of the management team. 6)Demonstrates team and individual support during staff interaction. 7)Holds team members accountable to meet unit goals, objectives and standards of care. 8)Represents unit and team at divisional and hospital level by serving on committees
