Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. This position actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Provides direct patient care in specialized departments such as cardiac care, monitoring patients during procedures/exercises for the detection of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities. Communicates with physicians about changes in the patient's clinical condition including laboratory tests, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology. Capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in condition and response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in related departments with adequate supervision. Participates in performance improvement and Kaizen activities, underlining a commitment to continuous improvement in patient care. Assumes responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. Promotes the optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and relevant regulations. Demonstrates personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values. This role requires compliance with policies and procedures of the organization, performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Based on the assessment and diagnosis, sets measurable and achievable short and long-range goals for the patient (ANA, 2012), assisting in the development and implementation of an individualized plan of care. + Prioritizes and completes follow up assessments, evaluates and modifies plan of care as needed. + Nursing practice reflects mutual goal setting and whole person care including meeting the needs of the mind, body and spirit. (King, 1995) + Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition, including, but not limited to, lab results, non-invasive monitoring data and interdisciplinary team notes. Nursing practice reflects the application of knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment associated with unit patient population.
