at every level within the organizationCardiac Device Clinic Nurse Job SummaryThe Cardiac Device Nurse provides direct care to patients with Cardiac Implantable Electric Devices CIEDs in the cardiac device clinic The Cardiac Device Nurse demonstrates extensive knowledge of cardiac nursing cardiac electrophysiology biomedical engineering and concepts to assess the technical function of the CIED perform testing and advanced programming of the CIED analyze and interpret device and patient diagnostics and perform accurate clinical documentation as determined by departmental and best practice standards in collaboration with Electrophysiology Providers MDsAPRNsPAs Essential Functionsmiddot Promotes excellence in the care of patients with CIED and cardiac rhythm or heart failure orders Demonstrates advanced autonomous direct cardiac rhythm management care for patients with CIEDs by integrating extensive knowledge from physiology pathophysiology and the basics of electronics to perform advanced device interrogations diagnostic reviews and overall analysis of device function for in person evaluations and remote monitoring middot Expertly performs post operative CIED patient assessment and teaching regarding incision care cardiac device function Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator ICD Shock Protocol and remote CIED monitoringmiddot Utilizes critical thinking skills and advanced knowledge of electrophysiology concepts to safety expertly and autonomously program device parameters to optimize system functionmiddot Performs advanced troubleshooting for complex device issues ensures patient safety promotes appropriate pacing optimizes rate modulation battery longevity and device timing cycles evaluates appropriateness of ICD therapy and Anti tachycardia pacing ATP programming and supports the electrophysiological needs of the patient middot Expertly recognizes abnormal functions of pacemakers ICDs and implantable loop recorder devices ILRs and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy CRTdevices through in person evaluations and remote monitoring Employs complex strategies to address and correct issues Maintains comprehensive knowledge of intricate device features intended to mimic intrinsic physiology and improve quality of lifemiddot Completes scheduling protocols for in person and remote monitoring patient schedulesmiddot Be able to travel to multiple clinic locations to provide cardiac device clinic care for patients in remote areas middot Expertly be in the in patient role as an expert cardiac device clinic to adjust device programming
