Job Overview:
The Patient Blood Management Nurse’s primary responsibility is to provide direct nursing care, health education and care coordination to Blood Management and Bloodless Medicine & Surgery patients. Direct nursing care includes, but is not limited to, performing screenings/assessments/triage, nursing intake and administering infusion drug therapies. The Patient Blood Management Nurse provides psychosocial support to meet the needs of the patient, acts as a liaison between the patient and multiple clinical providers, serves as a resource to hospital staff providing education and information regarding blood conservation strategies and acceptable non-blood treatment options, coordinates the needs of blood management and bloodless medicine & surgery program. Arranges and participates in community events focused toward Blood Management patients.
Qualifications:
Required
Current New Jersey RN Licensure.BLS Certification.IV Certification from an approved facility or completion of requirements for I.V. certification within 30 days of hire.Preferred
1+ years of recent adult or acute care experience in an emergency, critical care, hematology/oncology, or infusion setting preferred.Knowledge and understanding in the cultural/religious parameters regarding patients for whom blood transfusion is not an option is highly preferred but not required.Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred or currently matriculatingBilingual speaking highly preferredScheduling Requirements:
