Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Critical Care Flex Team at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. Are you seeking the opportunity to gain experience on multiple units? If so, then our Float Pool team is right for you! The critical care units include the Surgical ICU, the Cardiovascular ICU and Medical ICU. At the University of Minnesota Medical Center, we are a comprehensive stroke center and trauma center. The units have been new remodeled for a total of 63 critical care beds. We care for patients who have had coronary artery bypass, valve replacement and transcatheter aortic valve replacement, aortic arch repair, neurosurgery, sophisticated surgical procedures, and heart/lung and liver transplant. We care for patients with many different diagnoses including: multi system organ failure, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, influenza, sepsis, renal failure, GI bleed, pre/post bone marrow transplant, pre organ transplant (kidney/liver/lung), overdoses, and respiratory/cardiac arrest.Our team also handles patients with decompensated heart failure, adult congenital heart defects, cardiogenic shock, sophisticated pulmonary hypertension and cardiac arrest. We utilize extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), ventricular assist devices (VAD), intraortic balloon pumps (IABP) and Swan-Ganz catheters routinely. Our sophisticated patient population requires hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, management of organ failure, maintenance of systemic perfusion and a high technical skills. This is a faced-paced and highly technical medical environment. Schedule: This position is 0.60 FTE (48 hours per 2 weeks), overnight shifts 7pm-7:30am, 12-hour shifts with every third weekend rotation (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). As a Critical Care Flex Team RN, you will be responsible for: Assessing patient needs and identifying encouraged nursing outcomes; Developing a nursing plan of care; Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care; Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and encouraged outcomes; Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes; Coordinating care with members of the health care team and delegating responsibilities to others as appropriate; Demonstrating the ability to advance care by applying standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to improve patient outcomes. Promoting a culture of evidence based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities.
