The Opportunity
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible to the Director of Care collaborating on the delivery of resident care to meet individual needs within his/her level of competency. They will integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, judgment, and interpersonal attributes required to provide safe and ethical professional nursing services to residents.
The RN provides quality and safe resident care. The RN promotes teamwork and a culture that supports AgeCare Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles of Respect, Teamwork, Quality and encourages practices that respect resident, family and staff rights, individuality, and diversity. The RN promotes health and safety awareness in the workplace. Within the scope of this position, the RN takes on a key role to continually provide an environment promoting a culture of resident safety and freedom from harm and injury.
What You Will Do
Complete and ensure residents’ care assessments, service plans and documentation are up to date, and changes communicated to DOC for billings.
Assist with scheduling of residents’ care conferences and participate in conferences.
Work closely with DOC to facilitate residents’ move in and transfers.
Order and safe keep drugs and narcotics and administer in compliance with all regulatory requirements and policies and procedures.
Facilitate and provide resident/family education.
Supervise resident self medication assessment and audits.
Supervise and delegate care and medication administration responsibilities to Unregulated Care Providers in compliance with applicable regulations and policy and procedures.
Plan, coordinate, manage and evaluate the resident’s care plan working with the resident/substitute decision maker, physicians, nursing and interdisciplinary team and contracted service providers.
Coordinate nursing team’s resident care assignments to ensure efficient and timely delivery of services to residents.
What You Bring
Current registration as a Registered Nurse in applicable Province/State.
Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers.
Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset.
Must possess strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management and customer focus skills.
Must have demonstrated sound clinical knowledge and ability to delegate to unregulated care providers.
Must maintain competencies as per the governing College standards.
Skills in use of computer and Microsoft Office applications.
Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS).
