Position Overview:
The RN Manager provides both direct clinical nursing care and administrative oversight within the Parole and Treatment Program and OMH-affiliated residential settings. This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals transitioning from incarceration and/or living with serious mental illness (SMI) in residential facilities. The RN Manager supports nursing staff, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and ensures compliance with state regulations, agency policies, and best clinical practices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties – Parole and Treatment Program:
+ Provide direct nursing care to clients involved in parole or community supervision, including medication administration, health assessments, and coordination of care.
+ Monitor clients for side effects of psychiatric medications and collaborate with prescribers as needed.
+ Support crisis intervention and stabilization, referring to higher levels of care when necessary.
+ Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and treatment planning meetings.
+ Educate clients on medication adherence, health promotion, and disease management.
Managerial Duties – OMH Residential Oversight:
+ Supervise nursing services provided across OMH-certified residential programs, ensuring proper documentation, medication administration, and adherence to individualized treatment plans.
+ Train, support, and evaluate residential nursing staff; ensure licensure and continuing education requirements are met.
+ Conduct quality assurance reviews and audits of medical records, medication administration records (MARs), and clinical documentation.
+ Develop and implement nursing protocols and workflows in alignment with OMH regulations and agency standards.
+ Act as liaison between residential program staff and external healthcare providers, psychiatric prescribers, and regulatory agencies.
+ Participate in incident reviews, investigations, and risk management activities as needed.
+ Covering respective sites when nurses are on vacation or sick time call out.
Qualifications:
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
+ Licensure: Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
+ Experience:
+ Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience required
+ At least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred
+ Experience working with justice-involved individuals and/or individuals with SMI strongly preferred
+ Skills:
+ Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
+ Familiarity with OMH regulations, mental health best practices, and trauma-informed care
+ Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
+ Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
