As a Registered Nurse Level IV, you will leverage your clinical expertise and leadership skills to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to fellow team members, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest standards of care on the unit.
The 4300 Unit at Unity Hospital is a 20-bed, moderately-acute telemetry unit specializing in the care of patients with a wide range of medical conditions. Additionally, we provide specialized care in peritoneal dialysis, making this unit a dynamic environment for nurses and healthcare professionals seeking to expand their clinical expertise in both telemetry and renal care. We offer patient-centered care to a diverse patient population, providing opportunities for professional growth and development.

+ Diverse and Complex Patient Population:
+ Telemetry & Acute Medical Conditions: Care for patients requiring close monitoring and intervention for various acute medical conditions.
+ Peritoneal Dialysis: Specialized care for patients receiving peritoneal dialysis, both chronic and newly initiated. Nurses perform dialysis using Amia cyclers or manual exchanges and work closely with the nephrology team and the outpatient Peritoneal Dialysis team.
+ Drug & Alcohol Withdrawal: Patients are assessed using the CIWA protocol, stabilized, and transitioned to appropriate care when necessary.
+ Complex Wound Care: Expertise in managing patients with wound vacs, pressure ulcers, and other complex wound care needs.
+ Critical Infusions & PCA Pain Management: Management of patients requiring Insulin drips, Cardizem drips, Heparin drips, and Patient-Controlled Analgesia (PCA) for pain management.
+ Collaborative Interdisciplinary Team:
+ The 4300 Unit promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, with nurses, physicians, social workers, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and wound care experts working together to provide comprehensive care.

This role is part of the Registered Nurse Level IV / Clinical Nurse IV must complete the following:
+ Complete the Clinical Ladder binder within 12 months of employment
+ Minimum of 5 activities in each Pillar (Leadership, Quality, and Organizational Contribution)
+ 15 Continuing education units (CEU's)
+ 20 Flex items
STATUS: Full Time
LOCATION: Unity Hospital
DEPARTMENT: Telemetry, Peritoneal Dialysis, and Complex Care Unit (4300)
SCHEDULE: Day/Evening/Night - Every other weekend / holiday
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
+ Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Assessment. Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family
+ Planning & Implementation. Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and family
+ Evaluation & Education. Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities
+ Training. Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical matters
EDUCATION:
BS: Nursing (Required)
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
