The Samuel Oschin Cancer Center, nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report, treats more than 60 types of cancer. Its team of experts works to create a treatment plan to meet each patient's specific needs. The center's outpatient infusion center offers chemotherapy and supportive services, including 18 private rooms for treatment sessions six hours or longer.
Summary of Essential Duties:
Serves as a clinical and operational resource for all nursing activities in the departmentOversees and authorizes incidental overtimeProvides assistance to co-workers, new staff, temporary staff and studentsDelegates and assigns tasks to licensed and unlicensed health care workers within the scope of their job responsibilitiesCoaches and supports nursing staff in the application of advanced clinical skills and critical thinking to support patient care activitiesEvaluates, facilitates and promotes patient flow, coordinates discharge planning and team rounding as applicableAssumes responsibility for mentoring, coaching and staff development, acts as change championContributes to performance evaluationsChampions department improvement activitiesEvaluates and works to improve the process of patient care delivery within the unit and service centersProvides expert comprehensive direct and indirect care to the specific populations needs, including cultural, spiritual, age, psychosocial, communication, gender, sexual orientation, economic, education, family and condition needsQualifications
Qualifications:
Education:
BSN (Bachelor of Science, Nursing) requiredLicense/Certifications:
Current, unrestricted California RN license requiredOCN certification required (or willing to obtain within one year of service)ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Card requiredBLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross requiredExperience:
A minimum of 5 years of Oncology nursing experience requiredCharge Nurse experience preferredMust be a Clinical Nurse III for at least 1 year to be promoted within the clinical ladderCedars-Sinai is an EEO employer.
