Job Overview:
The Rahway Medical Surgical Unit, 3A, is a 22 bed unit that provides multidisciplinary care to acute care patients with various telemetry, medical, and surgical diagnoses. There are many learning opportunities as you work closely with the interdisciplinary team to provide safe, high-quality, evidenced based care. 3A provides a professional and stimulating environment where critical thinking, problem solving, and attaining new knowledge and nursing skills among a very supportive staff is fostered.
Qualifications:
A graduate from an accredited school of NursingBaccalaureate or Associate Degree in NursingRequired:
Current and active NJ RN licensure is required.Strong communication and organizational skillsProficient computer skillsPreferred:
Med./Surg., Telemetry and/or ER nursing experienceMed./Surg, Telemetry, ER and/or national nursing certificationsCertifications and Licenses Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association upon hireACLS Certification within 6 months of the start dateActive New Jersey Registered Nurse License or active Compact Registered Nurse License with New Jersey endorsementScheduling Requirements:
Night Shift, 36 hours per week, 7P-7AMonday – Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotationsEssential Functions:
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of his/her own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resources and programs available.The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and an interdisciplinary team manager, who utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.Other Duties:
