The Community Population Health Services (CPHS) portfolio is accountable for the Integrated Comprehensive Care (ICC) Program, Inpatient Adult Psychiatry Consultation Liaison Teams, the Alternate Health Facilities (AHF) at the Satellite Health Facility (SHF) and St. Joseph’s Villa (SJV). Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO), McMaster Family Health Team (McMaster Family Practice, Stonechurch Family Health Centre and Canadian Blood Services) are aligned with this portfolio.

As part of an inter-professional team, the Registered Nurse provides mental health assessments and brief intervention to medical/surgical inpatients across the HHS sites. In addition, opportunities may exist to develop outpatient inter professional psychiatric consultation-liaison service models with targeted outpatient medical/ surgical clinics. The Registered Nurse will work with the medical/surgical teams in a liaison role to further enhance aspects of mental health care nursing, according to the job description for Registered Nurse in Consultation Liaison. The Registered Nurse will participate in the initiatives of the broader, city-wide Consultation Liaison Psychiatry service associated with the Mental Health and Addictions Program of St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton and the McMaster Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences.

1. Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
2. Recent (5 years) experience working as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric setting, working with patients with a variety
if (general) psychiatric disorders
3. Experience working with adults as well as individuals, couples and families
4. Experience in working with people with addictions
5. Previous experience with research methodology, program evaluation and program development
6. Demonstrated knowledge of DSMIV diagnostics categories
7. Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as with an inter-professional team
8. Demonstrated working knowledge of psychiatric discharge resources
9. Expert demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric disorders and psycho-pharmacology
10. Excellent interpersonal, teaching and communication skills
11. Demonstrated capacity for critical thinking and problem solving
12. Demonstrated evidence of continued professional development
13. Current CNA certification in mental health nursing preferred
14. Demonstrated working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Healthcare Consent Act, and other relevant legislation in
the context of providing mental health care to the mentally ill
15. Non-violent crisis intervention certificate preferred
16. Valid driver's license; cross-site travel to deliver service at all the HHS sites is expected
