Unit Description:
5A NICU is a 32-bed private room NICU caring for High-Risk neonates from 28 weeks to full-term.
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.
Respect for Individuality: Honors and respects the mind, body, and spirit of each patient, acknowledging their uniqueness and human dignity.Evidence-Based Approach: Bases nursing practices on current research, hospital policies, and professional guidelines.Informed Clinical Decision-Making: Utilizes critical thinking and incorporates all phases of the nursing process in patient care decisions.Collaboration for Excellence: Promotes nursing excellence through supportive relationships among nursing staff and interdisciplinary collaboration.Compassionate Care Role Model: Exemplifies compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy in nursing practice.Direct Patient Care Focus: Spends over 50% of time coordinating and providing direct patient care, including assessments, treatments, and nursing rounds.Patient and Family Education: Provides education that is centered around the needs of patients and their families.Care Coordination and Planning: Engages in individualized treatment planning and care coordination to meet patient needs effectively.Key Responsibilities:
Assessment of Patient Needs: Performs and documents a comprehensive assessment in accordance with RNs’ scope of practice and hospital policies/procedures. Provision of Direct Care: Fully implements patient care therapies and procedures with empowerment and clinical autonomy within scope of practice in accordance with established policies, procedures, professional guidelines, culture, and age of patient served. Management of Patient Care Delivery: Sets priorities and coordinates plan of care for multiple patients.Organizes workload so there is effective utilization of time and energy relative to patient acuity and patient care processes.Support for Quality Care: Assures nursing excellence in accordance with accepted standards, evidence -based practice, current research, and caring philosophy. Uses a holistic perspective regarding patient care. Demonstrates critical thinking and creativity in the handling of patient issues. Displays compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy in relation to others.Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:
Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/universityCandidate with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.Basic life supportACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.Work Experience
