About the Role

Hopewell Hospice is committed to providing exceptional end-of-life care with dignity and compassion. We focus on enhancing quality of life and supporting families through the journey of terminal illness. We are seeking a permanent part time Registered Nurse to join our team.

Our Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing holistic and patient centred care, this is an extension of our care model provided at Hopewell Hospice facility. You will be working closely with families, nurses and personal care workers. Our Registered Nurses provide hands on care to Guests within Hopewell Hospice.

Key Role Accountabilities

Align one’s workplace behaviour in accordance with the Principles, Values and Mission of the organisation.Apply clinical decision making and practice at a level that reflects skill and competencies.Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans to meet the diverse and individual needs of children and families, reporting these back to the Care Team, Medical and Referral Panel as appropriate.Manage own workload and that of others by ensuring appropriate delegation of skills and capability.Participate in the induction and supervision of personal care workers, students and volunteers.Demonstrated self-awareness and recognition of professional boundaries in clinical nursing practice.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including written and oral skills.Work within the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.Follow processes to ensure the requirements of policy, accreditation and palliative care national standards are delivered and met.To make an active contribution to the on-going development of Hopewell HospiceParticipate in clinical audit and evaluation of ways of work process and service effectiveness.Participate in supervision sessions and appraisals.Utilises reflective critical thinking.

About You

Current AHPRA Nursing Registration.Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of autonomy and independence, with an ability to make appropriate high level clinical and leadership decisions within the scope of the role. Tertiary experience in a related field such as palliative care, learning disability or paediatric nursing. Evidence of the ability to build professional and therapeutic relationships and to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and with other service providers. Demonstrated experience working with a paediatric and/or palliative care population.Applied knowledge of person centred and family focused nursing. Three years post registration experience with tertiary experience in a related field such as palliative care or paediatric nursing will be highly regarded.Demonstrated effective PC skills with an ability to competently use of technology.Commitment to professional development and willingness to undertake further training and education relevant to role.Willingness to work within the philosophy and policies of Hopewell House, Wesley Mission Queensland and The Uniting Church in Australia.Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.

Desirable:

Whilst not mandatory, qualifications or recent experience in training, mentorship or education would be highly regarded.An understanding of National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.Knowledge of grief and loss theories with experience in bereavement care.
