REGISTERED NURSE
KidsPeace Childrens Hospital
The Registered Nurse is involved in performing the responsibilities with regard to with the provisions of nursing services offered in each program area for the children in KidsPeace care. The Registered Nurse reports to the Director of Nursing and will consult with the Staff Psychiatrist. The Registered Nurse works in collaboration with other clinical and non-clinical staff to provide appropriate clinical guidance, intervention, and treatment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current Maine Registered Nurse (RN) license, in good standing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
+ Minimum of one-year mental health, pediatric, adolescent or physical health nursing experience preferred.
+ Candidate must pass a Criminal Record History and Child Abuse History Clearance as well as possess a valid Driver’s License.
+ Demonstrated ability to function as a member of a team is required.
+ Excellent problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution skills required.
+ Strong communication, time management, organizational, and prioritization skills required.
+ Proficient computer and technology skills required.
JOB DUTIES:
+ Provide and/or complete comprehensive nursing assessments and support for clients upon admission, annually and during psychiatric and medical emergencies as necessary .
+ Develop a plan of care while promoting safety and collaboration as a member of the treatment team based on client and clinical needs .
+ Perform all aspects of the client admission process in accordance with organizational and outside agency regulations.
+ Initiate a preliminary treatment plan for all identified medical issues determined during the admission process.
+ Assess clients physical and mental health, and responses to treatment plan and nursing plan of care.
+ Provide on-going evaluation of medication regime; monitor effectiveness and provide medication education as appropriate.
+ Perform face-to-face assessments on clients following a physical restraint in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
+ Complete all required documentation in an appropriate timeframe and accurate manner in the applicable system and t ranscribe all physician’s orders within the established timelines and guidelines.
+ Participate in weekly Medication Review and Individualized Treatment Team meetings as scheduled.
+ Review Medication Administration Records and maintain accuracy of those records.
+ Communicate effectively with other departments, agencies, and community resources as necessary and required.
+ Required to be trained and certified to observe current KidsPeace approved restraint methodology and have the ability to participate in and/or observe all aspects of restraint procedures on youth who are verbally or physically threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others.
