Job Summary

The D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion is a 12-story hospital that will house 264 private rooms capable of converting to intensive care; a state-of-the-art neurosciences center. High-level, specialty care services for cardiovascular and thoracic patients will also be housed, along with advanced imaging. The 690,000 square foot hospital which also features twenty surgical and three interventional radiology suites is being constructed adjacent to the Frankel Cardiovascular Center, with plans for bridge and tunnel connections to existing inpatient care facilities. The anticipated opening of the new D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion is Fall 2025.

The Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is a 24 bed ICU that cares for patients from neurosurgery, neurology, stroke, otolaryngology, and oral maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) services. Medical problems most often treated on this unit include: thrombectomies, post-operative craniotomies for brain tumors, cerebral aneurysms, intracranial hemorrhage/hematomas, severe head and/or spinal cord injuries, increased intracranial pressure, caring for and assessing free flaps, doppler usage, tracheostomy care/management, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), Myasthenia Gravis, Status Epilepticus, and Guillain-Barre syndrome.

The Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) has been awarded the AACN Beacon Award for excellence!

Nursing Specific Info

This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Required Qualifications*Current Michigan RN licenseMinimum of two (2) years ICU/Critical Care RN experience within the last five (5) years. Neuro-Trauma ICU experience preferred with nursing care in post-operative patients, overseeing care for intubated patients, managing external ventricular drains (EVDs), seizure management, and arterial line supervision.Valid ACLS certification solely through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Hours: 36 hours per week; every other weekend rotation.
