Registered Dietitian

F5 is an Inpatient Acute Care Medicine unit. It is a 36 bed adult unit that is part of the “Senior’s, Emergency, and Community Medicine” program.

As a member of a collaborative multi-disciplinary healthcare team, the Registered Dietitian is responsible for the nutritional care of patients through assessment of nutritional status, prescription, implementation and management of nutrition care plans, counseling and teaching. In addition to patient care, the Dietitian provides leadership and direction in education related to applied nutrition care and may also participate in applied research and clinical studies. The Dietitian will participate in student education, as appropriate, including the training of dietetic interns.

1. Current registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario or eligibility for registration

2. Baccalaureate degree in Applied Human Nutrition or Baccalaureate of Science and successful completion of dietetic Internship

3. Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development

4. Provide evidence-based, high quality, specialized nutritional care unique to each individual as part of their medical treatment to improve or maintain their health

5. Enteral and parental nutrition support experience

6. Knowledge, skills and abilities in dietetic assessment, treatment and education of patients and their families

7. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced changing environment

8. Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork, problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making skills

9. Proficiency in various computer applications and information technology systems such as CBORD, Meditech, Microsoft word, Sovera

10. Membership with Dietitians of Canada required
