Registered Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiac Services- Non-Invasive - Full Time - Days

POSITION SUMMARY Perform cardiac imaging and other non-invasive cardiology procedures as performed by the Metro department where assigned. ACCOUNTABILITIES *All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise* 1. Performs cardiac sonographic imaging and all necessary functions required to complete the procedure for interpretation. 2. Interacts with providers as necessary for completion of the procedure. 3. Performs cardiac stress testing on patients with complete knowledge of different stress protocols and the computerized capabilities of the equipment used to perform the test. 4. Applies and processes holter/event monitors. Knowledge of how to correctly set up and document test. 5. Performs outpatient EKGs. 6. Participates in ‘on call’ rotation for echoes and TEEs after hours (as needed for inpatient facilities). 7. Serves as a resource for other technologists, students, and hospital staff. 8. Able to navigate and document in Electronic Medical Record. 9. Accepts shifts where assigned within the Metro Region. 10. Performs Structural Heart Procedures utilizing advanced imaging techniques. 11. Knowledge of imaging performed during the use of critical device interventions such as Impella and/or Angiovac. 12. Pediatric sonographers performs pediatric echocardiograms with advanced knowledge of pediatric pathology, pediatric corrective cardiac surgery and a complete pediatric echo protocol. 13. Performs other duties as directed. Education: Associates Degree in Cardiovascular Technology with a focus in cardiac imaging and/or 2 years’ experience in the field of echocardiology. Skills: Must be able to perform a complete echocardiogram using appropriate protocol, must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to differentiate colors, tolerate exposure to blood borne pathogens and body fluids, and operate cardiac ultrasound equipment, controls, machinery, and desk machines. Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer. License: Must be a registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or registry eligible through ARDMS or CCI. Must pass exam within one year or obtain approved extension from department leader and HR Certification: BLS WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: Gloves, gowns and masks as needed. Physical Demands: Must be able to move about department and between workstations. Must be able to frequently move, lift and/or carry medium weight objects and materials.
