Regional Supplier Development Engineer
Implement, support, and manage Supplier Development needs and performance to enable superior supplier selection and continuous management process that guarantees flawless launches and the delivery of 0-defect and on-time components for series deliveries. Responsibilities can include leading APQP process as part of new product launches, the coordination of technical reviews, and the development of supplier capabilities to meet BW’s requirements. Responsibilities will also include conducting Supplier Quality training at the suppliers and driving performance improvements to meet established objectives.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implement the BorgWarner Supplier Development Process at assigned suppliers.Support both regional and global needs in screening suppliers, program launch requirements (APQP), and series delivery under the direction of the Global Supplier Development Director and as determined necessary by BU and RU requirements.Develop and maintain Quality System expectations including update and control of suppliers’ conformance to IATF 16949, as required.Conduct regular audits and special surveys at suppliers’ facilities evaluating casting and machining manufacturing processes to determine adequacy, capability, and conformance to all quality specifications.Lead the APQP process as part of new product introduction.Drive supplier performance improvements to meet established targets and prepare periodic reports accordingly.Develop and implement quality plans to reduce cost, reduce PPM, assist in the reduction of CPM, and improve 8D response times.Review quality issues with engineering personnel and coordinate cross-functional technical problem-solving at the supplier.Apply an escalation management process with Purchasing and Supplier Quality BU/RU representatives as necessary.Apply established procedures, lessons learned, and best practices at the supplier base…/Global technical changes, support the management of technical changes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in Quality, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related discipline.Experience in relevant production processes and technologies, such as: Sand Casting, Die Casting, Investment Casting, CNC Machining, Milling, Turning, Grinding, etc.Knowledge of relevant materials is a plus, such as: Cast Iron, Cast Aluminum, Cast Steel, Alloy Steels, etc.Experience with related processes such as heat treatment, surface finishing (e.g., plating, painting), or welding is a plus.Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications to ensure compliance with agreed-upon quality parameters.Thorough knowledge of quality management system requirements such as APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, Statistics, Problem Solving, SPC, Initial Sample Inspection, Run@Rate.Experience in Product and Process Audits.Ability to apply and train suppliers in problem-solving and process capability tools.Fluent in both written and oral English, multi-Lingual is a plus.Openness to extensive traveling, min. 50%.Good communication ability across different cultures.Tenacity - ability to keep going until a job is done.
