Regional Sales Director Aerospace & Defense

The Regional Sales Director, Aerospace & Defense will lead our strategic sales growth within the Federal, DoD, DoE, and prime contractor markets. This leader will reinforce team execution while strengthening domain relevance, structuring disciplined sales operations, and building long-term client partnerships. You will be responsible for developing a high-performing, strategically aligned sales team capable of driving innovation and demand in high-stakes environments.
**Responsibilities**
Develop and execute a high-impact sales strategy for the A&D vertical, aligned with the AMR 3-year Gameplan and growth pillars: KAM, NPI, IP³, and Channel Strategy.
Lead, mentor, and coach Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) and Account Managers (AMs) through structured development plans, stay conversations, and regular progression reviews.
Drive strategic customer engagement by preparing pre-visit strategy discussions, delivering value-added insights in meetings, and facilitating post-visit debriefs.
Own top-tier accounts alongside RSMs and AMs (e.g., Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin), building executive-level relationships and executing program capture strategies.
Implement and manage account-based “Program Capture Reviews” to reinforce funnel creation and development of new strategic opportunities.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, channel, and business development teams to ensure alignment of messaging, value differentiation, and customer proximity.
Track and report key metrics such as funnel creation, new customer contacts, forecast accuracy, and team engagement levels.
Communicate a clear narrative about the direction, purpose, and impact of the A&D team: building trust, clarity, and alignment across all levels.
Represent Tektronix at industry events, customer meetings, and executive forums with a compelling, strategic presence.
**Qualifications**
Proven track record of success in sales leadership within Aerospace & Defense or complex Federal markets, including managing long-cycle, high-value deals.
Strong domain expertise across defense primes, DoD/DoE agencies, and the test & measurement value chain.
Expert at coaching, leading, and developing sales teams in complex, high-stress environments.
Excellent strategic thinking, customer insight, and executive-level communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to create demand and differentiate solutions in competitive, budget-constrained markets.
Experience designing and leading structured sales frameworks (e.g., funnel creation, program reviews, account planning).
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred. Technical or engineering background is a plus.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently as required.

The salary range for this sales position (inclusive of sales incentives/commissions in local currency) is 245700 - 456300
