Location:
Location for the Head of Regional Project Execution US is on-site in Allentown, PA with potential domestic and international travel (estimated to be up to 20%) required to meet project needs.
Your Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head of Regional Project Execution to join our team at EMD Electronics. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to a team of highly qualified Project Managers, Construction Managers, Commissioning Managers, and Project Technicians responsible for the execution of a variety of capital investment projects in the United States. Projects in the portfolio include a broad range of production expansion projects, infrastructure improvement projects, sustainability focused projects, continuous improvement projects, and new product small and high-volume manufacturing scaleup projects. Each project requires careful and attentive consideration for safety management, execution strategy development, change management, risk identification and mitigation, budget and schedule management, engineering and design oversight, construction management, and commissioning and start-up execution through handover to operations.
To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate your leadership and communication skills to collaborate with global and cross-functional teams. You will be relied on to leverage your experience and solve unique or complex project execution challenges by translating multifaceted issues into actionable concepts. You will need to appropriately manage senior stakeholders to ensure timely decisions are made in support of the project objectives. As a senior leader in the engineering organization, you will continuously support assessment of technical capabilities of your team, engineering team members, external suppliers, and contractors. You will keep abreast of market developments in key project execution skill areas and seek to introduce improvements into EMD Electronics.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership to strategically manage risk, monitor finances, and ensure objectives are met across the capital investment project portfolio.Implement appropriate governance frameworks, performance metrics, and assessment tools to monitor and report on project milestones and ensure critical success factors are achieved.Reinforce, audit, and verify appropriate usage of all project management processes, standards, and templates across your project portfolio.Coach, mentor, and develop individual project manager, construction manager, and commissioning manager competencies.Facilitate planning within the engineering and non-engineering support organizations to ensure availability of critical resources needed for capital investment projects in execution.Support the preparation, development and management of the comprehensive capital project portfolio budget and schedule, as well as lead the monthly portfolio updates and communications.Facilitate status meetings with senior management and steering committee members for escalation and resolution of risks and issues.Engage with procurement to co-manage contracts and relationships with external contractors from bid package development and technical bid evaluation through project execution and closure.Contribute to project life-cycle improvement through project post-implementation assessments (closeout), lessons learned, best practice sharing, training, and technical knowledge transfer, as needed.Participate in the Project Management Community of Practice and lead strategic initiatives to standardize and improve capabilities across the global engineering organization.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
BS degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or related engineering or science field.5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing production, process, or engineering related positions.5+ years of experience as a senior Project Manager on small and large (greater than $25MM) capital projects implementing execution strategies with external partners, such as engineering design, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors and/or design-build (DB) general contractors.
Preferred qualifications:
PMP, Professional Engineer certification, or advanced degree in Engineering.Previous experience as a people leader.Experience as a senior member of an engineering leadership team.Advanced knowledge of engineering, construction, construction contract administration, and/or commissioning, including advanced understanding of industry practices.Experience executing brownfield projects in a chemical process plant environment.Experience in industrial process plant construction and construction safety practices, including knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements and direct experience in chemical plant safety programs.Strong awareness and sensitivity to the complexities and safety challenges of implementing specialty materials manufacturing processes.
