Summary This position is a Budget Analyst, GS- 0560-11/12 working for the R2-Division of Fire Management. This position is considered the subject matter expert (SME) for both fire budget and fire business within the region and closely coordinates with the Regional Fire Management Coordinator in the formulation and establishment of related policies. Responsibilities As a Regional Fire Budget Analyst your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Provides specialized guidance and advice in the development, management, and implementation of fire budget and fire business practices related to fire suppression, preparedness, fuels management and the integration of these activities into the regional fire management program. Provides budget, business, and fire program expertise with the ability to integrate the various types of information to support fire management at a regional level. Synthesize the requirements of budget development and execution with fire program direction to enable accomplishment of natural resource management on the ground. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Only experience and education obtained by 09/18/2025 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess the Minimum Qualification. Minimum Qualification [GS-11]: One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-9 in the Federal service. Experience may include: provide technical advice on wildland fire program business rules; review financial budgetary documents; analyze financial statements; and collaborate in the resolution of financial or program audits. OR Three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D., or possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or LL.M. if related, in Business or Finance or a directly related field that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. OR A combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement. Minimum Qualification [GS-12]: One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-11 in the Federal service. Experience may include compile data on wildland fire program expenditures for presentation and reports; review and monitor obligations and expenditures to ensure compliance with obligation; compile and submit cost documentation packages; respond to inquiries on budgetary matters on behalf of an agency; and formulate and discuss budget plans, estimates, and justifications for management officials. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time In Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet both eligibility and qualification requirements for the position of interest by the closing date of the JOA. Specifically, i. GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study. FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
