The Operational Procurement, Regional Director presents a career opportunity to utilize extensive knowledge in procurement and ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders (internal and external) to minimize supplier interruption to operations.

 

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

Provide operations with key point of contact and implement procurement initiatives within the businesses, enabling the organization to achieve its financial goals.Mitigate value erosion and implement business processes and practices enabling the business to realize higher Operational Effectiveness Efficiency (OEE) characterized by resulting in all 3rd party procurement (materials and services) meeting operational requirements, at the right place, at the right time, and with the required quality, service support at lowest total cost.Responsible for fostering stronger relationships with stakeholders, promoting collaboration, and breaking down internal silos to enhance cross-functional cooperation. Become liaison between business stakeholders of all levels, across all business units, and the procurement function.Develop methods, tools, and processes that result in continuity of supply, qualified suppliers with solutions to provide the appropriate materials, services and technical expertise driving continuous improvement throughout operational footprint (mills, consumer packaging, corrugated packaging, machine & automation, etc.).Execute category strategies and improvement initiatives into business roadmaps with clear actions, owners and completion dates.  Work across functional teams to remove roadblocks and achieve organizational goals.Facilitate the inclusion of Procurement in relevant supplier discussions, ensuring the Procurement value proposition remains relevant and effective.Cultivate strong relationships with key suppliers to promote positive interactions and supplier performance.  Represent the company with strategic suppliers/contractors, ensuring the company’s performance requirements are understood and met.Collaborate with category management to influence strategies and supplier management. Ensure sustained availability of competent and quality functional resources and ongoing development of personnel skills/capabilities to meet current and future business goals.Drive Procurement best practices and bring commercial expertise to stakeholders across businesses, ensuring commercially astute decisions.Identify demand and intervene where necessary to enable exceptional client service, facilitating faster execution from tactical to strategic needs.Expedite critical procurement needs in various categories, ensuring excellent service delivery to functional stakeholders.Assist stakeholders with initial or ongoing procurement engagements where appropriate, providing first line Procurement expertise, then triaging to the Category teams as appropriate.Program manage key procurement activities, communicate progress to stakeholders, and identify and address issues proactively to ensure project delivery.

What you need to succeed:

15+ years of progressive experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or operationsDegree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field5+ years in a Leadership role with responsibility for building and developing talentExperience in developing and leading regional teams and supporting multiple operating locationsExceptional communications and presentation skills and high-level stakeholder management, including VP, SVP and C-suite level Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
