The Region VP Operations is responsible for the overall performance of assigned markets against safety, on-time, quality, retention, and productivity KPIs. This leader oversees deployment of The US Foods Way to the field and is responsible for building the talent pipeline through the coaching and mentoring of field talent. The VP Operations is also accountable for the effective and consistent execution of plays in-market as prescribed by Operations Excellence and collaborates with cross-functional leaders and teams to ensure plays are well understood, executed accurately and their deployment timelines met. Collecting and consolidating play implementation feedback from the field, this leader partners with Operations Excellence to correlate and interpret play impacts on KPI’s, escalating feedback, KPI impacts and continuous improvement recommendations to functional and Operations Excellence leaders. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** • Coordinate with Operations Excellence, activation teams and Program Office to deploy The US Foods Way in the field • Deploy standardized, configurable plays for supply chain and customer experience as developed by Operations Excellence • Develop and coach field talent in play execution to ensure plays are adhered to as written, executed consistently and delivered on-time • Oversee play deployment toward the turnaround of underperforming markets, sharing best practices from better-performing markets to facilitate improvement • Ensure feedback from the field is properly incorporated into play revisions and codification • Partner with market performance and Warehouse, Transportation and Routing optimization managers to implement best practices • Deploy program fixes and new initiatives in targeted markets • Work with Program Office Change Management and Governance team on play deployment • Manages performance expectation and pulls-in additional resources as needed to address KPI underperformance • Develop and coach field talent in play execution to ensure plays are adhered to as written, executed consistently and delivered on-time o Hire and manage market VPOs and other area and market team members o Develop and maintain a team of high-performing resources o Expand the team’s depth and business acumen across all functional domains o Actively manage and support the day-to-day performance and career growth of subordinate resources, including annual performance reviews • Other duties as assigned by the SVP Field Operations **SUPERVISION** • Directly supervises Market VPOs • Indirectly supports and coaches Operations Excellence process leads and Activation Team members. **RELATIONSHIPS** Internal: • Interact with other Field Operations VPs and with Operations Excellence process leads and Activation Teams, Performance Optimization directors, Program Office change management and governance leads, with Region Presidents and with Area Presidents External: • Not Applicable **QUALIFICATIONS** **Education/Training:** • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or in another relevant field. Advanced degree preferred. Related Experience/Requirements: • 10+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Operations; Logistics and/or a related field; demonstrates subject matter expertise and field credibility • 7+ years of experience managing direct or indirect reports; Track record of excellence in people and talent development • Proven record of prioritizing and supervising strategic initiatives • Experience with market readiness assessments and the implementation and tracking of effectiveness metrics • Exceptional communication skills and experience in working with Senior Leadership • A proven track record of leading projects that required coordination across team boundaries in large, multi-function, cross-geographic, matrixed organizations • Strong change management, project management and/or governance experience preferred • Experience managing or working with agile teams preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Team Building: builds high-performing teams by attracting and developing the right talent, acting as a coach, creating accountability and celebrating success • Influence/Communication Skills: strong executive presence and outstanding communication skills, to build credibility and authority in working with senior leaders, and to drive engagement and adoption with associates in the field • Coaching/Mentoring: develops new skills, mindsets and team member capabilities; blends support with accountability and challenges others to grow • Adaptable: a leader who can navigate the organization through complex and diverse situations; comfortable with ambiguity • Business Acumen: understands functional business strategy, operating models and financials to successfully deliver key results • Cross-Functional Collaboration: demonstrates strong cross-functional relationship building to align on required actions, share resources and accomplish company goals • Strategic Thinking: brings creative approaches to risk diagnosis and mitigation; active learner able to quickly understand relevant risks associated with functional initiatives This role will also receive annual incentive plan bonus, long-term incentive program, etc.​ ​Benefits for this role may include health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability, employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance.
